As we all know, the wine and food gets a heavy chunk of any couple’s wedding budget but you don’t have to stick with the tradition all the time. You can venture outside your comfort zone and do what newlyweds Graham and Joanne Flint did — serve fish and chips at your wedding reception!
Graham and Joanne Flint, of Highfield View Road, Newbold, said: “We wanted a really unusual wedding and didn’t tell anyone what we were doing so it was a real surprise.”
Their salt-and-vinegar surprise was followed by cool desserts after Chesterfield ice-cream company Frederick’s rolled out one of its vans for the occasion.
Their no-nonsense wedding could have saved thousands of pounds because, according to the British Council, the average cost of a UK wedding is £15,244.
