Attending a wedding of someone dear to you, perhaps your son or daughter or your sister, brother or best friend and couldn’t find the best wedding gift for the couple?

Why not search around your house or the local vintage shop or Salvation Army shop…the others’ trash may be someone else’s treasure!

The hall stand above is antique and guess where my Husband found it? In the rubbish dump! Yes, it’s from the late 19th century that he found in a dump and that he polished and looked after till it’s presentable! At the time that he showed it to me, it did sort of make me squirm knowing that I’ve got furniture rescued from the dump but now, as this hall stand proudly displayed in our foyer, I come to love it more and more…It’s something old but still relevant in these modern times, in our house at least.

So if you have an old chaise lounge that just needs a bit of re-upholstering or an antique lamp (yes, we’ve got one! My Husband loves the old stuff!), you can pass it on to someone you love and not have to spend on commercially available, mass produced products in the shops right now.

Nothing’s stopping you from shopping from said stores (I shop at these stores all the time!) but like I said, if you want something old to be passed on to a son or daughter then perhaps, now is the time to look at all those boxes in your garage or your attic that you haven’t opened for years and you might find a gem that will be perfect for a special couple :-)

If you’re a fan of the “The Hills” soap then you’d be pleased to know that the hot, hot, hot stars of the show Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag have finally gotten married! He’s here to spill the beans about their oh-so-romantic wedding :-)

Spencer Pratt is opening up about his wedding to longtime gal pal and fellow Hills star Heidi Montag. “We had a beautiful ceremony here at One & Only Palmilla officiated by a minister and photographed by the hotel photographer,” he told UsMagazine.com and The Associated Press in a statement. “We’ve never been happier.”

The wedding, which took place in Mexico, has had some in the media questioning the legality of their nuptials. But the groom insisted those will be taken care of in time: “Like other elopements that happen outside the country, we’ll take care of the legal details when we get home.”

Meanwhile, Neal Hersh, a Beverly Hills attorney, said that the marriage is legitimate if the couple took the necessary steps. “People can get married anywhere,” he told the AP.

The reporter, Peter Grossman, who interviewed the Us Weekly, told the AP, “Heidi and Spencer are two people in love who had a beautiful wedding ceremony to celebrate that. The pictures and words in our issue this week bear that out.”

Of course, MTV News announced exclusively earlier on Wednesday that the couple’s wedding will be featured in the next season of “The Hills.”

Montag’s family and fans have been quite vocal about their wedding, addressing their concerns for not being a part of the ceremony. Her sister, Holly, told MTV, “[Our mom] didn’t know, either, what was going on, and we were frantically calling [Heidi]. Everybody’s pretty upset.”

Meanwhile their dad told People.com, “I would be upset if she got married and didn’t invite me! Then we just have to have another wedding here!”

The couple’s friends — and even reality-TV alum Shanna Moakler — are also opening up about the wedding. Whitney Port, whose “Hills” spin-off “The City” is set to premiere next year, told “Extra,” “I just heard it like everyone else yesterday. Congratulations to them. I think it’s great if that’s what they’re ready to do. Good for them.”

I think this is the first time ever since I started writing for Our One Heart that I have digressed from the Weddings and Honeymoons topic. I normally wouldn’t break this unspoken rule if I didn’t feel strongly enough about what I’m about to share.

My daughter has been a victim of bullying. Bullying with a racial slur. An assault. A physical and emotional assault.

I am angry. I am disappointed. I know I could’ve kept quiet and said nothing but I feel that I should make a stand to protect my child’s innocence.

Money’s tight during this economic downturn so if you want to have a free wedding and want to get married on New Year’s Eve then the best thing to do is fly/drive/walk to West Virginia!

It’s Judge Crislip’s last day in office on New Year’s Eve and he wants to do something nice for couples who want to get married. All you need is your wedding licence and you’re set to get married!
