Getting married at a Football Field
Are you and your spouse to be football fanatics, you can get married in your favorite football park. Something different! This is what Daniel Aslett and Julie Woodman held their special day. It’s so sweet!
For Plymouth Argyle season ticket holder Daniel Aslett, there was only ever going to be one perfect city venue for his wedding - Home Park.
So when original plans to tie the knot in an Ice Hotel in Finland fell through, football fanatic Daniel knew exactly where he and his bride Julie Woodman could hold their special day.
On Saturday, the couple became man and wife at the home of Daniel’s beloved Plymouth Argyle.
And not only did the couple marry and hold their reception at Home Park, they went one step further and colour themed their wedding in the much-loved Argyle green and cream.
The ceremony took place in the Argyle board room, with about 60 guests, and was followed by a sit-down meal in the players’ lounge, and then an evening reception in the marquee at Home Park.
Bridesmaids Kate Aslett, Debs Baker, Sharon Woodman and Jen Collins wore green dresses with cream sashes to match the theme, and they all carried green and cream bouquets to complete the outfit.
Tablecloths at the meal were green, and the tables were decorated with green and cream balloons.
The Plympton couple, who have a 22-month-old little boy, Harrison, are now spending a few days in Cornwall before they go to Miami and Mexico for their honeymoon in May, when Harrison is two.
Independent financial adviser Daniel, 35, said: “It went really, really well. I am a season ticket holder and when the original plans fell through we had to find a suitable venue in Plymouth. It just ticked all the boxes. It seemed like the perfect place for it and they did a fantastic job there.”
Julie, a part time mortgage adviser, said: “I absolutely loved it. It was brilliant. It just seemed fitting because Dan’s such an avid Argyle fan. And there was no other place for it if I wanted a quiet life.
“We were originally going to get married in the Ice Hotel in Finland but it fell through so Dan found out about it on the Argyle website. It was obviously meant to be.
“He was very proud to get married there - but gutted to miss the Bristol away game though.
“They all had Sky Sports news feeds on during the meal so they could keep up with the scores.”
Bridesmaid Kate Aslett, Daniel’s sister, added: “Dan has been a massive fan since he was in his teens and is a season ticket holder. Everyone thought it was the perfect choice for their wedding.
“Julie was absolutely fine with it. Apart from the rain it couldn’t have gone better.”
