Hawaii World Class Wedding Expo

by Christine on April 24th, 2007

When Hubby and I got engaged, I used to go to all the Wedding Expos and Fairs in Manila. It’s not only to find the best suppliers in town but it was a bonding time for other friends who were also engaged and in the throes of preparing for their weddings! It’s not only a good day out for the engaged couple but could double as a girls’ day out (if you’re groom-to-be is away!).

An estimated 3,000 to 5,000 brides-to-be can browse the aisles to check out booths from 150 different vendors offering dozens of services to check out - from florists to bakers to bridal fitness. It is the only locally produced wedding expo in the state, according to organizer Dun Uchimura.

We caught up with Florist Grand owner Evan Morita, who exhibits at the expo year after year. “It’s a good opportunity for brides to come and select vendors. There are other florists here as well. They can educate themselves on different options out there.”

For the first time, Hokulani Bake Shop decided to get a booth. “There’s an enormous number of brides that visit, like 3,000 to 5,000 brides. It’s a wonderful market for us and wonderful venue. I see and hear about the Expo on the radio all the time. I see it on tv. There’s ads everywhere. It’s a huge event.”

Owner Tushar Dubey and his wife Ana set out gourmet cupcakes and sugar cookies that they say make excellent favors. “We do these hand decorated sugar cookies and we do them in over 650 different shapes.”
