US-based engaged couples beware of Celebration Studios
Wow, if what happened to newlywed couple, Michael and Erika happened to me, I’d be totally devastated. Imagine, after months and months of planning the perfect wedding, you have no photographs or videos to show for it because the photography studio you hired went under!
Surely, if they recently got married that the outfit would have used a digital camera? How much will that take to transfer those on a disk and give to the couple? For me, I don’t care if I don’t get the printed photos, I’d go after the digital photos and have them printed myself!
To everyone out there, beware of Celebration Studios and other wedding suppliers who may be in danger of going under! The thing is, how can you tell especially if these suppliers come well recommended? How can anyone really know if a supplier is in financial difficulty?
Michael Ruiz de Somocurcio, a health insurance executive from Clifton, N.J., paid $5,500 to Celebration Studios, a regional photography service, before his wedding in September. The price included albums, personalized thank-you notes and a DVD starring his wife, Erika, and himself.
But the products never materialized. The company, with offices in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, closed this month and is filing for bankruptcy, its lawyers say. Hundreds of couples have been left with no visual record of their wedding day, and many brides-to-be who had made down payments now have no wedding photographers lined up.So instead of paging through their albums, newlyweds are filing police reports and lawsuits, and sifting through posts on Internet bulletin boards. And, along with people who are not yet married but who paid Celebration Studios in advance, they are vetting countless online offers from album makers, video editors and last-minute photographers engaged in what one bride-to-be called “ambulance chasing.”

I was also waiting for my photo albums to be completed. I did receive my proofs, but unfortuantely On Oct 4th 2007 I had to give my proofs back to Celebration Studios in order to have my photo package completed. Now like everyone else I have no photos and is stuck with a big celebration studio headache. After doing some research I found a vendor that Celebration Studio used. Please read this following email I received from Albumsunlimited. My name was not on this list, but hopefully someone reading this will be. Good Luck!
