Wedding Tip: Getting Married during a legal holiday

by Christine on March 15th, 2008

This is a tip that I have discovered and learnt from friends of mine who had ‘holiday weddings’. Something you need to consider. If you are getting married on any of the dates below, REMEMBER, prices of EVERYTHING (well, almost!) get jacked up because…it’s a holiday! If you’re on a tight budget then you don’t need the extra fees attached to holiday weddings.

# Valentine’s Day (February 14th)
# St. Patrick’s Day (March 17th)
# Easter (varies between March and April)
# Mother’s Day (2nd Sunday in May - date varies in other parts of the world)
# Father’s Day (3rd Sunday in June - date varies in other parts of the world)
# Canada Day (July 1st)
# Independence Day (July 4th)
# Labor/Labour Day (1st Monday in September)
# Canadian Thanksgiving (date varies in October)
# Halloween (October 31st)
# Veterans (US) or Remembrance (Canada) Day (November 11th)
# American Thanksgiving (date varies in November)
# Christmas (December 25th)
# New Years Eve (December 31st)

We got married the 3rd of July and it was actually less expensive because they could not book the venue for a large party that day…Many banquet halls have a difficult time booking for large parties at that time because it is a family weekend.

But, it was great because our family could all attend because of the longer weekend.
