Weddings on a Budget
Your wedding budget may be tight but your ‘dream wedding’ doesn’t have to be ‘tight’. There are a number of items in your wedding list that you could do yourself so you don’t have to pay others for their service or you can rely on the kindness of your friends and family to do bits and pieces for your big day.
An example could be the wedding favors. Your best friend or sister can do this for you. You don’t have to order posh wedding favors online or buy them off the shelf. With a bit of imagination and creativity, you can do them yourself!
Before purchasing anything for your wedding, don’t rely on third party suppliers, go to the source of the product you want. When we were preparing for our wedding, I didn’t go to a tailor shop to order the fabric for my Husband’s barong tagalog (the Philippines’ national costume equivalent to the suit in America) as the shop would probably charge you more than 100% over what the fabric really costs. What I did was go to the local fabric shop and haggled and bargained with the store owner till I felt I was paying for the ‘right’ price. It would help if you had someone who knows the ins and outs of fabric shopping to go with you to make sure you are paying the appropriate amount for fabric.
These are just examples of ways to save for your special day. Don’t fret, there are more wedding budget tips to come! Stay tuned!
